Currently in Switzerland, enjoying life with my foodie soulmate Anina @aniahimsa! 😅 It's so funny how similar we feel & think about all things food-related! Yesterday we spent a great relaxed day visiting the market, cooking and eating, talking, then talking and then talking some more... This isn't yesterday's haul but actually one from a few weeks ago back in Berlin. For a single household this is what my organic groceries usually look like. Of course, I also have my garden to harvest from at the moment and I'm also travelling for work often - so not shopping crazy amounts of food. Although there can never be too many greens, right?

Didn't post this yet cause I'm still struggling with Instagram and whether I should continue to post on this platform at all. I feel like you much more enjoy my stories. However, watching other people's stories can be soooo time-consuming. Time I rather spend talking to the people I'm close with instead of this awkward "ah right, I saw this in your stories already" the next time you meet. Who can relate?

I actually have tons of content piled up and no idea what to do with it. Recipes, thoughts, research on food & sustainability topics... Well, we're off to yoga now. Have a peaceful Sunday!

Back in the smoothie bowl game... 😅

Still taking it slow after coming home sick from my trip. Life's definitely taught me a lesson there. Sometimes you just gotta take things slow instead of rushing back into chasing from appointment to appointment. I'm sleeping more and am not stressing about things not getting done right now.

Today, for the first time in weeks, I did a little more intense yoga session and afterwards still felt inspired to not only prepare myself a big #smoothiebowl but also to make it look pretty - just for me, without the intention of taking a picture. But then I thought, I really miss interacting with you guys - so I took a quick snap. 😊❤ There you go.

Ingredients: 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup mixed frozen berries, 1/2 small Spanish papaya, 1/3 zucchini, a handful of frozen kale (leftovers from last gardening season), 2 tbsp sprouted buckwheat, 2 tbsp coyo, juice of 1 lime, 1 tsp flax seeds, 1 tsp hemp seeds, 1 tsp #baobabpowder

Toppings: #alfalfasprouts, hemp seeds, dried young coconut shreds, freeze-dried raspberries, dried petals, #cacaonibs

Did you expect another smoothie bowl by the infinity pool? Or a beautiful sunrise over the rice terraces? Amazing raw vegan food we enjoyed in Ubud? Yes, all this is something we enjoy and absolutely appreciate. I try to soak it all in and memorise every small detail to come back to these places back home when I need a moment of quiet.

However, this is a also a part of the reality over here! When we were in #Sumberkima we went on an amazing snorkelling trip to #Menjangan island. Colourful corals, crystal clear water, the prettiest fish. But as we continued swimming towards the shore more and more plastic waste appeared. Our guide was carrying a net and started to collect bottles, bags, packaging etc. so we just went along and did the same. Within minutes the net was full of plastic. It made me incredibly sad to see what we humans are doing to our planet and its ecosystems.

Some people back home have told me that there's no point in this whole #zerowastemovement cause the developing countries continue to pollute the environment, have no recycling systems in place and don't educate their people about material cycles. But it's also us - the tourists who are responsible for a lot of the waste! So all the more reason to lead by example and reduce, reuse and recycle! Bringing your own cutlery, dish clothes, reusable drinking bottles, a few food containers, cotton bags etc. is soooo easy!

Hello from Indonesia! 🌞 It's been quiet on my feed as I'm spending close to zero time on my phone (except taking pictures & looking at places to stay as we continue our journey 😊). I am travelling with my oldest friend @uta__m and I couldn't have asked for a better companion. ❤  So grateful for the time we're spending together!

Our trip has been incredible so far - full of magical moments, adventure, relaxation, fun encounters, culinary highlights and a sheer endless number of amazing sunrises & sunsets.

This picture was taken during our first two nights in Bali where we stayed at the beautiful @sumberkimahill retreat (Werbung/ad, not sponsored). It was the perfect spot to recharge our batteries from sightseeing and the long train rides on Java. Super friendly staff, delicious food and gorgeous views over the ocean and mountains!

Just like the restless sea my mind is spinning these days... in search of answers. Yet, with every answer more questions surface.

I am wondering what the point of all this is. Can I really post another smoothie bowl or cookie recipe while the world is facing a never-ending stream of problems WE ourselves have caused? Food waste and overconsumption over here, while hunger & poverty still exist. Countries making the same mistakes we "westerners" made years ago. A plastic collapse destroying our oceans and biodiversity. The urge to always grow, sell more, buy more, achieve more, own more. And then, self-optimisation in every aspect of life as an industry - which I highly doubt is actually helping us live more mindful lives. Where is the compassion? Where is the honest concern for the people in our surroundings? The care for our planet, future generations?

Yes, call me a pessimist (today). But I am exhausted. It's just hard to stay positive. And to find the strength to continue voicing my ideas & concerns (in a non-accusing way) no matter where I go or whom I talk to, not just here on social media.

The more I shift to topics that actually move me the less people I reach. Not that I care about the number of followers, I've left that mindset far behind me. But it does make me wonder: how is it that so many people don't want to draw conclusions from the obvious? With information available everywhere for free? Why do they continue to purchase products from mass animal farming despite knowing both the cruelty and climate effects behind it - just cause it's oh-so-delicious? Shopping new clothes every week cause it's just so much fun, or even worse, wearing a feminist t-shirt that's most likely been sown by an exploited woman in a sweatshop far far away. Finding the to-go lunch options packaged in single-use plastics just way too convenient to give up. But sure, we simply don't have enough time to think about all this - despite all the handy tools we use for self-organisation... It's like everyone's running on autopilot without questioning what's going on. 👇🏼 Continued in the comments below.

Awesome! Now that I have your attention let me talk about the #fridaysforfuture #climatestrike I attended here in Berlin today. Over 20.000 school kids skipped classes in order to take a stand against climate change. Not only here but all over the world! I wish I would have been so cool (and aware) when I was their age.

It was such a powerful experience to be part of this crowd. Supported by #scientists4future, teachers, parents etc. we marched from #Invalidenpark to the #Kanzleramt demanding change regarding the way we generate and use energy, produce and consume our food, use our resources in general and move from A to B. Some of the youngest were yelling the loudest. Check my stories for more on this.

Long time no #markethaul picture! 😊 Despite the grey and rainy February weather I put on my coat and warm boots to shop #plasticfree at my local farmers' market and #zerowaste store @dersachewegen (*Werbung/ad, not sponsored) today.

I got some lovely veggies, citrus fruit and apples as well as fresh mint & coriander which totally spike up every winter meal! At the store I stocked up on some organic & fair spices, oats, flax seeds and got the two "spotty grapefruits" - still perfect if you ask me. Not pictured is the organic soy yogurt I bought cause it went straight into my fridge. It was even cheaper than the packaged version in my bio grocery store - so awesome to have yet another product available here! 🙌🏼 Do you try to avoid (plastic) packaging, too?

Messy breakfast bowl after my 7k run this morning at -4°C. I'm slowly easing back into a running routine. 👟💪🏼 I actually started out with 3.5k which is barely anything - but I believe any exercise is great for your body! 🙂 And every day is different after all. Do you run?

For this #adaptogenic porridge I used 5-grain flakes, gingerbread spice, #chaga powder, flax seeds, walnuts, coconut flakes, grated ginger and orange zest with oat milk. Toppings include #oatyogurt, #grapefruit filets, kiwi, #cacaonibs, #beepollen, hemp hearts and a generous drizzle of almond butter.

Simple yet delicious salad that I made back at home for the family and never got to share. 😅 Just threw together a bunch of random greens (#radicchio, #babyspinach & #endives), added fig and #persimmon slices and some #pomegranate. For the dressing I used extra virgin olive olive oil, pomegranate balsamic vinegar, a little water plus freshly ground salt & pepper. With the right ingredients there's no need for fancy recipes, right?

Happy new year my friends! 🎉🍾 🎆 I spent the last week pretty much offline. It all started somewhat involuntarily when, on Christmas Day, the Internet connection in our entire village failed. 😅 Besides the movie we didn't get to watch, it felt pretty good so that I decided to stay offline a little longer.

After eating all the great food over the last days (I'll be sharing some stories later about the vegan feast I prepared for my birthday party as well as last night's dinner) I'm craving all the greens - so green smoothie bowls are #onthetable today!

Here you can see a few variations of the whisky truffles from my blog. I make them every year on the 24th as a #lastminutegift. I've made countless variations of these such as maple whisky, orange, hazelnut nougat, caramel sea salt etc.

In the end it all comes down to the right ratio of ingredients so here's the one that works best for me:
· 100g of cooking chocolate (Werbung/ad: I always use buttons from @original_beans
or @gebana.official)
· 40-50g liquid (liquor, fruit juice etc.)
· 20g of fat (e.g. coconut oil)
· 15g vegan cream (I've used sour cream, homemade cashew cream and macadamia ricotta, oat creamer...)
Plus fancy add-ins such as real vanilla, tonka bean, bitter almond, orange zest, ground or chopped nuts etc. 👉 Check full method #onmyblog.

After shaping the truffles coat in cacao powder, coconut, nuts, dried flower petals or even more chocolate. Anything goes!
